Veterans Class as hot as MX1 and MX2!

27 September 2010

Whilst most of the attention will be focused on Zach Osborne and Evgeny Bobreshev attempting to clinch their first British titles at Hawkstone Park this weekend, we have to remember that the two round Veterans series also comes to a climax!

The class has grown since it was first introduced as a one round series in 2009 and, like its world counterpart, is still growing with the ACU office having to turn away several entries for Sunday's event. It has already been announced that the 2011 series will be over three rounds, with ACU Events ensuring the champion will have to be consistent over six races, whilst not making the class cost prohibitive with too much travelling.

Back to this year, our World Championship rider, Terry House on the Dextra Crescent Suzuki takes a slim lead after the Farleigh Castle event into the final two motos over the Kawasaki pairing of Brian Wheeler and Greg Hanson. Wheeler, from Wooton Under Edge in Gloucester is bound to have his Barmy Army of fans (pictured by Dave Rich at Farleigh Castle last month) supporting his every move on the unforgiving Hawkstone Park circuit. The Start List also shows current champion, Rob Herring making a return to the series on his Team Revo Technik Suzuki after being sidelined at the opening round with a wrist injury.

The Veterans class will feature two important races after each of the first two MX1 encounters, which will give race fans over five hours of top class racing on one of Britain's most famous circuits, starting at 12.15pm.

Hawkstone Park is easily reached from the M54 motorway by turning off onto the A442 at Telford.
