Elliot Banks Browne ((HM Plant KTM) took a controlled start to finish win in the opening MX2 race here at Milton Park this afternoon. Nicolas Aubin (Buildbase Honda) put pressure on the East Anglia rider for most of the race, but in the end finished three seconds adrift. Despite his earlier set back of qualifying last (see previous story) Mel Pocock (Monster Energy Bike It Yamaha) still made a good start and rode a controlled race to finish third, but a long way adrift of the leaders. The test for Pocock will probably be the final mixed race of the day when he will have a poor gate choice amongst the MX1 riders as well.Championship leader, Kevin Strijbos (HM Plant KTM) fared even worse in the opening MX1 moto, finishing in ninth position, whilst his championship compatriot, Matiss Karro (STR KTM) scored a convincing win over Stephen Sword (Tyco Suzuki by TAS). Gert Krestinov rode a consistent race for third place after Shaun Simpson (Monster Energy Bike It Yamaha) made a mid race mistake as did Josh Coppins. Both riders recoved well to take top five positions.
The temperatures are now in the mid twenties as the MXY2 and MXY85 riders take to the course ahead of the next two motos which will then determine the riders who will qualify for the gruelling 30 minute final "showdown" moto.
