MX1 Qualifying

29 July 2012

Go Back Dispite setting fastest time in the MX1 Qualifying session Shaun Simpson (Monster Energy Bike It Yamaha) found himself being pitched off his machine within 100 metres of the start of the important Superpole session, which left him down in tenth place, some ten seconds adrift of Series Leader Kevin Strijbos (HM Plant KTM UK) at the end of the Q2 session. The biggest surprise to many was the magnificent lap by Dorren Coutts (PAR Honda) who elevated himself into a career best second position – less than half a second from Strijbos.
Wildcard rider Milko Potisek (Honda) slotted into third in both sessions to give himself a good gate choice when the two MX1 races start this afternoon. In unusual circumstances, both Jason Dougan (Route 77 MVRD Honda) and Stephen Sword (Tyco Suzuki by TAS) suffered mechanical problem in the Superpole session which put them into eleventh and twelfth position, behind Simpson.
The second wildcard rider, Max Anstie (Honda) decided to go out last in the Superpole, but could only improve one place from his Q1 8th.
